The secret was already out that Nike and Apple were teaming to introduce yet another Nike+ equipment and this time for Apple’s popular new products like the iPhone and iPod touch. Putting to rest any doubts, screenshots of the product have now been made available and it has piqued consumer interests. It is further said that the new device will make great use of the 3G technology for uploading training data on the go. Those using the software will be able get immediate performance graphs right in their handsets.
Along with this, users will be able to gain the support from Google Maps and be able to set routes, chart out directions, and take into account a variety of other details while going out for a run. The new application will be able to access the web on the go and consumers won’t have to wait until they go home and turn on their PC.
Finally, users will be able to track their workout sessions on cardio equipment by inserting a sensor into their shoe pocket (any show with a Nike + feature) which will wirelessly connect to an iPod. The data is then converted into ‘cardio miles’ so users will know the results of their efforts. The kit will also reveal information such as the length traveled, number of calories burned and time elapsed.
By interactively connecting technology with something as mundane as jogging shoes, Apple and Nike have shown that collaboration can occur in the unlikeliest of combinations.
