Many have been waiting for it for months and finally it is available to buy. Yup! We are talking about the Eee Top touchscreen PC that is already on sale in Taiwan and now soon we will also be able to get ours.
Though it’s not surprising that first it has gone for its domestic customers, the thing, which is somewhat unusual, is that UK will be the next market to have this newest Eee model.
The precise details are not known yet, but it’s being sold for NT$18,900 (New Taiwan dollars) equivalent of almost £380.
The 15.6-inch model has been powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU and it is expected that it will house a 160GB hard drive, IGB of RAM, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and Windows XP.
So those are some definitely entry-level specs, but its touch-sensitive screen will be the main draw to this Top, as it makes it like something a cross between an information ( just like those found in airports and other public places) and a Tablet PC.
Asus seems quite hopeful that its simple approach to the touch interface will prove a success. The company is planning to sell to sell more than five million Tops during the next two years. We will see larger 20-inch and 22-inch models in the first half of 2009.
