The update 10.5.4 has been posted by Apple for its Mac OS X Leopard operating system. According to the company, besides security reliability and high performance the new update also delivers the code to support the coming online service which has been named as MobileMe and that will debut on July 11.Security updates for Tiger client and server versions have also been released.

According to Apple, there are some operating system improvements in the software which increase security, stability and compatibility of the Mac. Through OS X’s software update mechanism the download is accessible and free download can also be made from Apple’s web site. The users who are already using 10.5.3 update on their Mac, the new one covers 88MB for them.
Security Update 2008-004 for Mac OS X Tiger and Tiger server has also been released by Apple in addition to the 10.5.4 Leopard update. The updates have somewhat same with security fixes as are in 10.5.4 Leopard updates so in terms of security both these systems have similar level. The patch provides security against suspects in basic system components like Dock, CoreTypes, SMB File Server, Webkit and Ruby on Rails interpreter.

Further more, Apple has also upgraded Safari on Tiger to edition 3.1.2 that helps to fix a serious problem in the open-source Webkit browser that gears safari. The same WebKit problem of Leopard has been addresses by the Leopard 10.5.4 update. Users of Windows XP and Vista have already got access to Safari 3.1.2 on June 19.

All latest security updates that have been released between Mac OS X 10.5.3 and this new update are included in Leopard 10.5.4 update. Issues with different system and third party applications like saving and opening again abode Creative Suite 3 files on a far off server have also been resolved in 10.5.4 update.
