With its 2.3×2.4×4.5-inches measurement and 11.7 ounces weight (including Memory Stick Duo and battery), the CX100 is quite exceptionally compact especially in its class. The reduction has not only been done in its size, but in price as well. However, you may have to offer a sacrifice in its usability and video quality for this reduction in price and size.
It can be called a tiny minicamcorder, but it seems to fit nicely in the pocket of your jacket. Though it’s small, you would find a lot of such stuff as lacks in the other models that also include a 10x zoom lens with the ability to capture 2mp stills.
When it comes to look of the CX100, it feels somewhat boxy, but still has some clear cut lines and it doesn’t look cheap especially with its solid heft, glossy plastics and textured matte. It’s available in black, bright red and silver colors.
The CX100 older sibling the CX12 seems quite comfortable to use, but with its relatively flat top, it becomes to grip it in a comfortable and price way. So, you need to use your both hands to shoot as you have to hold the camcorder from one hand and use the other one to click the shutter.
As it’s quite compact and 2.7-inch LCD feels quite small. The CX100 has some usual set of buttons that include DVD direct burn, Power, playback, full-auto, LCD, Home, zoom and LCD bezel. The various buttons looks quite flat, but they feel quite good.
The device is a nice choice for all those shooters who have some especial sort of love towards compact handycam with loads of features as well as for those who are on budget and looking for a nice handycam device.
