A netbook can’t be truly judged mere through its cover. The Sony VAIOP Series is one of those nice gadgetries that were on almost everyone’s best list at CES. Now just after few days of their revelation, there are reviews which suggest that these so-called “LifeStyle PC” don’t seem to prove as real showstoppers as they were presented. Here are some reasons why a considerable number of tech reporters fell for this series.
- A uniquely lean and long netbook with 8” extra-wide display
- Though it has a tiny size and weighs only 1.4lbs, it has a really nice keyboard.
- There are many new features that you wouldn’t find in many netbooks available in the market these days.
- It has a 1600X768 high-resolution display, integrated 3G as well as GPS.
However, when tested for real life experiences, a list of cons emerged as well:
- Its three cell battery gets out of juice only after two hours of full- fledge use.
- The netbooks which start with $900 really deserve for further price adjustments.
- According to Laptop Magazine review, performance-wise they are good for the productivity of light, but can’t be called real stellar.
- The review suggests that the netbooks become uncomfortably warm during their use.
It is worth-mentioning that in their review, the Laptop Magazine put a $1,199 assemblage on test that had a
64GB SSD that must have been a cause of enhanced performance. While you would 60GB HD in the base price configuration.
When it comes to specs, a slower 1.33GHz Atom Z520 chip has been housed in the P-series and this very chip was designed for different sort of mobile internet devices.
According to Sony, the P-series has been especially designed for women, college kids and young professionals and Sony seems quite well aware of the fact that most of women have no concern what lies inside the system and they seem to prefer good looks of the machines. Though women care a lot how some product looks, they definitely need some nice functional PC as men want it for their daily use. The P Series is sleek and beautiful and perhaps it’s because of its design that doesn’t allow a real faster and robust sort of processor. There are rumors that Intel is about to release a more powerful Atom platform that will make the P Series a lot better option for many.
