The Bluetooth v4.0 has been rumored from some months for its features but yesterday this new technology got its official release regarding the features and specifications. In the annual all hands meeting in Seattle, the special interest group (SIG) of Bluetooth revealed some more details regarding the upcoming new 4.0 version of Bluetooth. The next generation of the Bluetooth wireless protocol ensures the lower power consumption and a really faster speed than the earlier versions available in the market now days.
While discussing about this issue Michael Foley, Ph.D., executive director of the Bluetooth SIG raiser the statement “Bluetooth v4.0 throws open the doors to a host of new markets for Bluetooth manufacturers and products such as watches, remote controls, and a variety of medical and in-home sensors. Many of these products run on button-cell batteries that must last for years versus hours and will also benefit from the longer range enabled by this new version of the Bluetooth specification”.
It has been reported that the new Bluetooth v4.0 consists mainly of three elements, first and foremost is the classic Bluetooth technology, Bluetooth low energy technology and with that the third one is the high speed technology that can be used on the pick n mix basis. The SIG also expects that they will bring this wireless technology by the end of June so be prepared to get the glory of speed and features.
