It is said that that Organic light emitting diode (OLED) will be the best alternative to LCD screens in the coming years, but without their habit of color-shifting and fading after a few thousand hours.
With a lifetime of over 65,000 hours, Kodak has just announced its success in making a new kind of OLED.
In most of OLEDS there is special organic thin-film materials that begin to emit light an electrical charge stimulates it without any backlight. It shows that they are enough powerful-efficient and quite lighter than many other liquid crystal displays of today.
Another good thing about them is that they are viewable almost 180-degress and they do not suffer from motion blur just like many other LCD screens. Green dopant is a material that has been used to enhance lifetime, efficiency and luminance.
Corey Hewitt, Kodak vice president says in this connection, “We have made greater than 50% year-after-year developments in OLED luminance and the company will keep moving to fill the pipeline with new inventions to make sure that Kodak OLED materials are ready to use in a lot of emerging applications.”

It has become Sony’s wont to always come with something new, (though there were some years in the doldrums, no doubt a nice come back as a major player of the industry.) now there is Bravia TV that seems it be the thinnest as well as lightest LCD set available in the market.
