The above message appeared for all the search results from Google search engine on Saturday. The conditions prevailed to nearly an hour between 9:30 am and 10:25 am E.T.

Google gave explanations for the errors in a company blog stating that every site that is found running infected software gets such flagging. To detect such sites, Google uses the StopBadware.org site. It is a nonprofit site project run by Harvard and Oxford Universities’ legal scholars to look for consumer complaints and problems.

Google explains that the error occurred due to human mistake. As the list issued by StopBadware was mistakenly checked in a way that all URLs got accompanied with the alarming message. The problem was noticed through a complaining call received at the consumer help call center. Soon after, the error was rectified.

This erroneous condition prevailed for 40 minutes in all. All the users who stayed with their most reliable search engine faced the said problem. It is noticeable that a small error like this can cause a lot of trouble and panic, and can defame the company damaging its trust amongst users.

Vice president of search products and user experience, at Google, Marissa Mayer said, “We will carefully investigate this incident and put more robust file checks in to prevent it from happening again.”To prevent the users from getting in such troubles and thinking to move on to other search engines for ensured safety, Google must seriously effort to tighten its work quality.
